Thank you for your interest in the Sherman STEM Teacher Scholars Program!
In addition to the information you supply on the UMBC Common Application, you will need to complete the Sherman application to be considered as a candidate for the program. This includes submission of your Common Application, high school transcript, and standardized test scores. The Sherman application and all supplemental materials must be received by January 15th.
The Sherman application includes a personal statement, three brief essays, and two letters of recommendation.
You are also welcome to submit any relevant documents that you believe strengthen your application. These documents can be submitted as attachments to your application. Please note, though, that these are supplemental and do not make up for poor essays or vague letters of recommendation.
After reviewing applications, select candidates will be invited to Scholar Selection Day, which is typically scheduled for the last Saturday in February (snow date: first Saturday in March). If you have a conflict with this date, please let us know as soon as possible.
Please reach out to Josh Michael at email@example.com or 410-455-1577 if you have any questions about the application process.
You may also use this application to apply for the UMBC Honors College. Admissions decisions for the Honors College are determined by a separate committee. For consideration, applicants should have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in a strong college preparatory curriculum that includes honors, Advanced Placement, or International Baccalaureate coursework.
