A place for students and community members to LEARN, GROW and EXPLORE in a 21st century science, technology, engineering, arts and math center.

The STEAM Center

The existing Lakeland Recreation Center is being transformed into an environment where Lakeland students have access to academic enrichment and life-skills development and Lakeland adults can further their education, workplace skills, and health and well being.

The STEAM Center will offer more afterschool and summer programs for youth, provide services, resources and space to Lakeland community members, and create places for teachers to strengthen STEM teaching.

The current programs offered by Baltimore City Parks and Recreations will continue, new elements include:

  • Extended evening and weekend hours
  • Parent Resource Room for both formal and informal gathering
  • Multipurpose Room for a variety of activities around health, athletics, arts, and wellness
  • Job Training Center
  • Technology Lab
  • Digital Video & Sound Studio
