The Sherman Teacher Scholars Program supports and prepares culturally responsive, compassionate educators to teach in Baltimore City or similar schools and districts. Through cohort based student success initiatives and school-based partnerships, the program facilitates authentic learning experiences for scholars while promoting student achievement and engagement. The program provides academic and professional coaching to help scholars become high-quality teachers for urban schools.

Students pursuing an undergraduate certification (licensure) or a Master’s degree in teaching are highly encouraged to apply and receive
- Holistic Advising to navigate progress towards academic and career goals
- Experience working with preK-12 students in local partner schools under the guidance of teacher-mentors and program staff.
- Professional Coaching from Sherman staff for teacher candidates preparing to teach in urban, historically marginalized, and multicultural classrooms
- A Sherman scholarship and more.
